eraser zine by: sean solomon

i met sean solomon a few weeks ago at a group art show we were both participating in at the catalyst art space here in l.a. he was awesome enough to hook me up with a complimentary copy of his zine "eraser"...and it is totally taser factory! i love zines so much that i've become pretty skeptical, but this one definitely makes the cut for me! it 's funny and refreshing, and it's not often that i get the op. to laugh out loud. sean is a rad young man, and i can only see this project, as well as his others, getting better and better.
check out the eraser zine website here: http://www.eraserzine.com
you can find the eraser zine itself, as well as other sean products.

love them, don't shoot them...?

i saw this poster while riding the train a few days ago. it seems to be a product of the lapd, which encourages people to NOT fire their guns in the air on new years. it was really hard for me to imagine that this issue was so widespread and popular in practice to warrant a public poster.however, when the clock struck midnite, i was quickly convinced. from all over the city i could hear a thunderous mix of fireworks and gun shots. and yes, i can tell the difference between a bunch of firecrackers and a semi-automatic 9mm... someone in my apt. complex actually shot their gun right outside the building! pow! and i was like "what the fuck!"i had never thought of doing this. it seems like a great idea. maybe next year.

x-mas wall.

finally took a photo of this wall that has been haunting my dreams. dream wall? yes. for now. and especially since it's got this great x-mas theme featuring betty boop in a skimpy santa getup and some nativity scene thing. i would agree that betty should have been involved in the whole birth of christ tale.

it's on barranca between 20th + 21st. i see it everytime i get to go to st. vincent de paul. happy xmas.

justin clifford rhody's "to-do-list"

lately i've been going through all the various folders of incredible stuff i've been collecting over the years. it's quite overwhelming. then again, i'm a pack-rat. here's my latest favorite. it's something justin clifford rhody sent me quite a while ago. it's impressive, inspiring, and depressing to me. personally, my "to-do-lists" never get completely cleaned out, and i bet jcr actually knocked out every assignment on this list. i love it, and display it proudly:jcr just released the second issue of his totally taser factory publication: "Drawings". I'm sure it's available through the friends and relatives records website. not sure, but there's tons of great stuff there anyway, so check it out.

shane edge vs. mel gibson

ok. so i yesterday i posted some normal jk style bullshit here on taser factory. one of the items was this painting i did of mel gibson:
in response, shane edge made this whole thing tens times more taser factory than i could imagine! here's his rendition: yes. this is incredibly funny and great...well shane said it was a poor imitation, but i said it was amazing....but i also said.... "ho my god! that's f-ing great! great! you know, the original is supposed to be mel gibson. it's like him got cloned and your other top half is pasted to his half groin half belt. killer!"

"Tonight's Special: The Royal Iron Victory Buffet"
This has touched my soul and I must give my thanks to everyone involved. This has given me the greatest experience of all: education. Should I get the whirlwind, I would feel no regret about my times as a mortal. I should get the super-cuisine education. Let this incredible learning thing begin! For the sake of my parents, my people, and my planet; I will eat. But for the cost of love.

This coffee is Thai,
I don’t know what else to say, but I think we know why.
Yr. good at giving hand-jobs,
I’m bad at sustaining my own happiness,
Yr. good at drinking, but pretend not to be,
I’m good at most things, and everybody knows it.

Yr. probably a good driver,
but I can’t tell.

“FAST PACED INTERIOR DESIGN FIRM SEEKS RUNNER”

I would like to submit my professional resume for the job opening posted: “FAST PACED INTERIOR DESIGN FIRM SEEKS RUNNER” in West Hollywood. Since running is such huge a passion of mine, I feel that I would be the perfect candidate for this position.

I have years of experience in running, starting as a child, soon after I learned how to walk. One look at my resume will show my tireless dedication to the pursuit of running, as well as my overall versatility. I run best on grass or any make of artificial turf, but can also handle other surfaces such as asphalt, gravel, sand, etc.

I would very much enjoy the opportunity to speak with you further about the position and in concerns to my resume, starting with my placing in the 2007 Boston marathon.

Thank you for time and consideration.

Best,
Jeremy Kennedy

chest drying machine with built-in blinding device

This project is still on the drawing table. The Goatmother and I almost pulled off the construction of this over the summer, but ran outta time. This guy is a “wall-mounted, foot-switch operated, heat-less chest drying machine with built-in blinder”. It is a handy unit that mounts to any wall...

Description:
The bottom section of the device contains the chest drying fan. It is mounted to the wall at average chest level height. Besides the fan, this unit also contains a strand of christmas lights. The front panel of this section is constructed from plexi-glass. Text and designs (along with a set of user instructions) are applied to the plexi-glass and backlit by the strand of christmas lights inside the box. The fan exhaust in the center of the front panel should be equipped with tassels, which indicate fan is working.
The top section contains two VERY POWERFUL flood lights, which shine through two eye-holes at the front. We call this section the blinder, and it is adjustable to most heights to get full effect.
The entire device is easily operated via foot-switch.

How it works:
1.- stand directly in front of the device so that chest is aligned with fan exhaust.
2.- adjust blinder so that user eyes are aligned with device eye-holes.
3.- click foot-switch button once to turn power on.
4.- enjoy soothing, drying air on chest and painful, blinding light directly in eyes.
5.- click foot-switch button once again to turn power off.

fischli/weiss- Der Lauf der Dinge (the way things go)

yeah... i know it’s not new, but the video of this has been popping up at places i go too frequently to ignore. It’s definitely trying to tell me something. they were playing it at LM Projects here in LA like last month, but ever since going to see it it’s been haunting me.

if you haven’t seen this before, i think it’s worth a viewing. it’s a great piece by swiss art duo fischli/weiss from 1987 (i think). anyway, it’s a fantastic rube goldberg machine, with crazy chemical reactions triggering a lot of the action. at moments during the process, the whole thing seems so haphazard and janky that it’s hard to imagine it is actually gonna work! That’s my favorite part.

this is the best youtube version of it i could find, but i guess i really didn’t look very long or hard. It’s available on dvd, and totally worth it!
TFTF (totally fucking taser factory)
check it!
